Terms of Service
These terms are an agreement between you and Mantel, operated by Alok Kumar ("Mantel", "we", "us"), based in Pune, Maharashtra, India. They cover your use of Mantel's studio at app.mantelcms.com, the content API, and related services. By creating an account or using Mantel you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Mantel.
1. What Mantel is
Mantel is a content studio for a website you already have. You write and organise content (work, writing, books, films, music, places, photos and more) in Mantel, and Mantel publishes it to your site through the repository and hosting accounts you connect, such as GitHub, Vercel or Cloudflare Pages. Your website itself stays with your host and under your control.
2. Your account
- You sign up with an email and password or with Google. Keep your password safe; you're responsible for activity on your account.
- You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent where you live, to use Mantel.
- Give us accurate information and an email address you can receive mail at; we use it for sign-in, password resets and important notices.
3. Your content
You own what you create and upload. You give us permission to store, process, copy and display it only as needed to run Mantel for you: saving drafts, generating previews, serving images, and publishing to the sites you connect. You can export your content at any time from Settings → Export.
You're responsible for your content and for having the rights to it. Don't use Mantel to publish anything illegal, infringing, harassing, deceptive, or harmful, or to distribute malware or spam.
4. Connected services
When you connect GitHub, Vercel, Cloudflare or another provider, you authorise Mantel to act on your behalf within the permissions you grant: reading your repository, and starting builds and deployments when you publish. Those services are governed by their own terms. Mantel isn't responsible for outages or changes on their side, and you can revoke access from the provider at any time.
Book, film and similar details come from third-party catalogues (such as Open Library and TMDB). We don't guarantee their accuracy.
5. Acceptable use
- Don't try to access other people's workspaces or data, probe or overload the service, or get around rate limits or security controls.
- Don't resell or sublicense Mantel without our written permission.
- Don't use Mantel in ways that break the law or the terms of the services you connect.
6. Beta, pricing and payment
Mantel is currently in beta and free to use. Beta features can change, and something may break; please keep your own backups of anything important (exports make that easy). After beta, Mantel will cost US$3 per month, billed monthly in advance, as described on our Pricing page. We'll tell you before any paid plan starts and never charge you without your agreement. Cancellations and refunds follow our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
If we change the price, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email, and the new price applies from your next billing period after that.
7. Availability and changes
We work to keep Mantel running and your content safe, but we can't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may add, change or remove features. If we ever shut Mantel down, we'll give you reasonable notice and time to export your content.
8. Suspension and ending your account
You can stop using Mantel at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@mantelcms.com. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put the service or other people at risk; where reasonable, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to export your content.
9. Disclaimers and liability
Mantel is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for lost profits or data, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or US$10 if you paid nothing). Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts at Pune, Maharashtra have jurisdiction over disputes, subject to any rights you have under the law where you live. Before going to court, please contact us so we can try to resolve it.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For significant changes we'll email you or show a notice in the studio before they take effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
